What is the difference between a Brennan Energy Healing and Reiki?
Both Brennan Healing Science and Reiki are healing modalities that channel universal energy (Chi or Prana) through the practitioner’s energy field to make it available to the client through the laying on of hands on the body joints and chakras. This energy of Divine Consciousness is one that promotes healing and relaxation for the client. Reiki is learned in 3 or 4 short courses (32 to 50 hours) while BHS is learned in an intensive 4 year program (2,000 hours).
What happens in an energy healing session?
Typically, I will spend the first fifteen minutes talking with you and learning about what you would like help with. If it is your first session, this amount of time may be longer. During the conversation, I am actively listening while observing the energy patterns of movement and inviting your Highest Good into the session.
During the initial check-in, I’ll ask you questions about your health and overall state of well-being or current complaints. BHS Practitioners are not doctors and therefore do not diagnose illness or prescribe drugs, yet it is still important to share this so I will know how to work with your energy system and which techniques to apply.
Once the discussion is complete, you will lie down on a massage table, fully clothed and, if necessary, supported by a bolster. You may also be covered by a blanket.
During the session, your job is to receive and relax as much as possible. Each person’s experience during the session is unique and will differ. Some people find it helpful to pay attention to the breath. Others will fall asleep or enter into a half sleep or alpha state of relaxation. A wide range of emotions may arise. Often people find the healings to be very relaxing and experience a floating sensation.
Typically I will first give you a chelation which starts at the feet and ends at the head. A chelation is an energy healing technique that clears, charges and balances the energy field and chakras.
During the healing, blocked energy is released, allowing you to have a fuller and more comprehensive sense of self. The relationship between you and your healer is transformative and awakens the interconnection between mind, body, and soul. After the session is complete, I will spend a short amount time with you for questions after a healing. Generally, it is advisable to keep the conversation to a minimum so that the healing can be fully held and integrated. Questions may be asked at a later time or at the next session. It is not uncommon to have vivid dreams the evening of the healing or in subsequent days.
What is a chakra?
In Sanskrit, “chakra” means wheel of light. Chakras act like energy transformers, either stepping up or stepping down energy. They exist in the aura or Auric Dimension.
There are seven main chakras. They are located on the top of the head (7), middle of the forehead (6), throat (5), heart (4), solar plexus (3), lower belly (2) and between the legs (1). These chakras open up from points along a central energy current that runs along the spine, both on the back and front of the body. There are also numerous smaller chakras located all over the body including individual chakras in the joints, organs, hands and bottoms of the feet.
Chakras are shaped like a wheel, vortex or funnel. When functioning optimally, they spin clockwise and when less than optimal, they might spin counter clockwise or not at all. Each of the major chakras is associated with an endocrine gland. They also hold an emotional and physiological aspect of health.
The chakra’s job is to receive energy from the Universal Energy Field (the energy all around us) and nourish a particular area of the body. Each chakra holds and is activated by a frequency. The highest frequencies are found in the 7th, 6th and 5th chakras. These chakras are associated with spirituality. The lowest frequencies can be found in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd chakras which are associated with our physical being. The heart, located at the 4th, chakra serves as the bridge between the spiritual or higher chakras and the physical or lower chakras. A particular color and sound (frequency) is also associated with each major chakra.
How many sessions will I need to have?
Since everyone has different goals and challenges, there is no specific number of required sessions. A person may need just one session while another may need many sessions over the course of several months. Since your healing is ultimately your responsibility, how far you take your healing journey is up to you.
The positive effects of the work may not be apparent right away thus necessitating additional sessions and dialogue with your healer. We recommend receiving about four sessions and then, with your BHS Practitioner, develop a healing plan based on your goals and needs.
How does long-distance healing work?
As a BHS Practitioner, I energetically connect to your body and bring you into the healing space. I then work with you as if you were physically present. Using my developed skills and inner guidance I apply various techniques as if you were physically lying on the healing table.
What are the benefits of receiving a BHS healing?
After an Energy Healing session, all systems in the body and the energy field are healthier when they are grounded, nourished and balanced. While each client has his or her own unique experience, below are some of the benefits you may experience during the course of or even after an Energy Healing session.
Will I have to discontinue any other type of treatments?
Energy work is always intended to be in harmony with any medical or complementary treatment already in progress. There are no known negative side effects associated with these treatments.
